Bluffton Lowcountry Communities
Bluffton offers modern plantation communities, often gated, with some of the best golfing in the Lowcountry.
While the town center is developing as an art colony, with charming galleries and shops.
Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge, an island located between the bridges
connecting Bluffton to Hilton Head Island, has 14 miles of hiking and cycling trail
and bird rookeries. It literally turns white with perching egrets.

This island was once owned by the Charles Pinckney.
He was a signer of the U.S. Constitution.
And further back in histor it is believed to have
been inhabited at one time by prehistoric cavemen.

The Bluffton Oyster Factory at the bottom of Wharf Street
is the last shucking and canning oyster house on the east coast.
It, and the adjoining public boat ramp, are now a public park.
Like other locations here, Bluffton has an histioric area.
Eight antebellum homes, large and small, survived the Civil War shelling and fire.
These homes as well as the famous Church of the Cross, are historic landmarks,
which are under restoration.
Bluffton, which borders on the wide May and Colleton Rivers, has some grand older homes along with very new homes.

Located just west of
the Hilton Head bridge, Bluffton rincludes
large tracts of land formerly pine forests. Hampton Hall, Hampton Lake, Pinecrest, Berkeley Hall, Belfair,
Eagle's Point, Crescent Point, Island West, Rose Dhu Creek, Palmetto Bluff and
Westbury Park are just a few of the new communities.
And you can't beat the shopping along US Highway 278. There are two immense outlet areas offering upscale brand names in every
kind of merchandise. The major retail stores have located in this area.
From Bluffton, it is about 30 minutes to I 95, 50 minutes to the
Savannah/Hilton Head Airport or 15 minutes to the Hilton Head Airport. So for folks traveling, it's
an easy and convenient place to travel.
